Common Sense: I don't know about you but I've had it up to here with government at all levels legislating new laws (which doesn't allow the city to ban the sale of liquor at gas stations for instance) or court rulings (like mandating that cities must allow for adult business). This isn't what our founding fathers had in mind when our great country began or just don't make any sense except to some government bureaucrats. My goal is to use common sense to ensure regulations be fair, user friendly and to use my council seat to encourage common sense legislation at all levels.
As a Certified Public Accountant I have the experience to provide strong fiscal management. Plus, being a small business owner myself and having worked with small businesses I'm in touch with this key part of the Fountain Valley economy. I will ensure that city regulations don't hinder them. We need healthy small businesses in Fountain Valley.
As your Planning Commissioner for over ten years and a former member of the Traffic committee I have more experience in Fountain Valley city government then either of the two incumbents. I would use this experience to ensure that Fountain Valley continues to stay a beautiful city: Older shopping centers need to be revitalized, and let's keep the roads paved and the traffic moving. Can't we bring back the fireworks show? And, as always, safety first, for our homes and our kids.
My wife, Terri and I have been your neighbors for over 20 years. We raised our son, John, here in Fountain Valley and know how difficult it is to raise a family. My goals include more family friendly events, not just events for kids, but things that will bring whole family generations together.
As an active community member my commitment to Fountain Valley is reflected by my community involvement: Citizen of the Year; Distinguished Service Award; Jaycee of the Year; Eagle Scout; 10 year AYSO Coach; President, Fountain Valley Junior Chamber of Commerce; Treasurer, Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce; Mentoring Program, Orange County Board of Education;
I ask for your vote and would be proud to serve as your City Councilman. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact me at home 839-6003 or jwbcpa@worldnet.att.net.
Those who know me, or who have attended any of the Planning Commission meetings know that I listen, keep an open mind and that I care deeply about keeping Fountain Valley the wonderful community it is today. I, like you, am Fountain Valley Proud.
